Mora Dani village is one of biggest village of district Thatta, where water pumps were installed during the September 2015 trip to the area
A Single pump will be used by at least10 families for bathing, washing dishes, meal preparation, drinking and general sanitation, There are 15 location in the area where hand pumps have been installed to fulfill basic need of community water requirement.
AFHD, completed watershed project during September 2015 and at the time of Hand pump installation having 20 household and 150 populations. Earlier they were dependent on open well for drinking water. Women have to walk quiet a distance to fetch water and multiple rounds are performed for sufficient amount of water. They need minimum 5 to 6 pot of water for a day and 5 to 6 hours are spent to fetch water everyday. If during night the water supply finishes then there is no option for drinking water. Beside this they take bath once in every 3 to 4 day. One nearby Canal is at a distance of 3 km and around 80 families are dependant on that so sometimes they have to take turns at the water and have to wait in the scorching heat of sindh.
Village women have to walk 1km, to fetch water which need one hour and also need rope and bucket to take water from well. At night, if the water supply finished they cannot go to the at night. Now the condition has changed, water is available near their homes which is a blessing for families and their cattel. Hand pump water is used for domestic purpose and drinking.
Water was also not available during summer therefore they used to take bath, once in every 3 to 4 day. Now families and their cattel are getting benefit from the new hand pump of Lodhie Foundation. If the hand pump requires repairing the villagers can collect money among themselves to get it repaired or can contact Lodhie Foundation/AFHD for support.
