AFHD is committed to delivering K–5 Universal Primary Education to 30 million underserved children and Adult Literacy to their parents in the rural villages of Pakistan. By empowering families with knowledge, we aim to protect children from exploitation by fundamentalist and extremist forces.

WHERE IT ALL STARTED
The American Fund for Human Development (AFHD) was born from the vision of a group of altruistic American citizens and individuals who had already earned respect in their personal and professional circles, yet felt a deeper calling to serve humanity beyond borders.
Bound by a deep belief in dignity, fairness and opportunity for every human being, a group of compassionate Americans came together not just to care but to act. With open hearts and a shared sense of purpose, they pooled their voices, resources and goodwill to create something lasting.
Their commitment laid the foundation for AFHD’s global mission, and today, that spirit continues to guide every initiative we launch, every life we touch. It fuels our resolve to reach the forgotten corners of society, where hope is scarce and help is overdue.
